Peri Peri Tinuzzo Nerello Mascalese

Peri Peri is a Sicilian project from Famiglia De Cerchio, the fourth-generation winegrowing family also behind Torre Zambra in Abruzzo. The estate takes an organic, sustainability-focused approach, and Tinuzzo is certified organic, vegan, and Equalitas sustainable. What makes Tinuzzo particularly interesting is its origin. Nerello Mascalese is most famously associated with the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna, but Peri Peri grows the variety near Sciacca on Sicily's southwestern coast, just kilometres from the Mediterranean.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Clear ruby red with youthful violet reflections.

Nose: Highly aromatic and floral, with rose petal, peony, violet, and bergamot layered over red plum, cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry. Dried Mediterranean herbs and delicate spice add a savoury dimension.

Palate: Fresh and juicy rather than heavy, with red plum, ripe cherry, cranberry, and red berries carried by lively acidity. Fine tannins provide structure, while herbs, spice, and a slightly bitter citrus note add complexity and keep the ripe fruit feeling energetic.

Finish: Fresh, savoury, and gently grippy, with lingering red fruit, herbs, delicate spice, and a subtle bitter note that makes the wine particularly food-friendly.
