Andreas Bender Dajoar Riesling

Based in Leiwen in the Mosel, Andreas Bender farms steep, slate-rich vineyards with a focus on organic practices, spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention. Rather than bottling every vineyard separately, he often blends parcels to achieve specific styles while retaining the character of the Mosel’s distinctive slate soils.

Dajoar means “as in the old days” in Mosel dialect, referencing the traditional regional style of Riesling where a small amount of residual sugar balances naturally high acidity. The wine is fermented spontaneously and matured with old oak casks, giving additional texture without pronounced oak flavour.
