El Dorado 12 Yr. Rum

El Dorado is produced by Demerara Distillers Limited in Guyana, one of the world's most respected rum producers and the custodian of several historic stills unique to the rum industry. Drawing on centuries of rum-making tradition along the Demerara River, the distillery is renowned for creating rich, full-bodied rums that showcase Guyana's distinctive style.

The 12 Year Old expression is crafted from a blend of rums distilled in a combination of legendary wooden Coffey stills, wooden pot stills, and traditional column stills. These historic stills contribute unique flavour characteristics ranging from rich fruit and spice to deep molasses and oak complexity.

Each component rum is matured for a minimum of twelve years in ex-bourbon oak casks before master blenders carefully marry the spirits to create balance and consistency. The tropical climate of Guyana accelerates maturation, producing concentrated flavours and exceptional integration between spirit and oak.

The result is a sophisticated sipping rum that has earned widespread acclaim among rum enthusiasts and critics worldwide.

Tasting Notes

Nose
Complex aromas of dried fruit, vanilla, honey, toasted coconut, orange peel, baking spices, and oak layered with hints of dark sugar and cocoa.

Palate
Full-bodied and velvety with flavours of caramel, toffee, dried fig, raisin, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and toasted oak balanced by rich molasses character and subtle tropical fruit notes.

Finish
Long, smooth, and warming with lingering notes of spice, vanilla, dark fruit, and elegant oak.

Serving Suggestions
Best enjoyed neat, with a splash of water, or over a large ice cube. Also exceptional in premium rum-forward cocktails such as a Rum Old Fashioned or Rum Manhattan.
