Dugat-Py Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru

Domaine Dugat-Py is one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most respected producers, particularly renowned for remarkably concentrated, long-lived Pinot Noir from old vines and very low yields. Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru lies immediately north of Clos de Bèze and is divided between Mazis-Hauts and Mazis-Bas. The vineyard sits over fractured limestone rock with well-drained soils, conditions that contribute both power and mineral definition to its Pinot Noir. The 2011 vintage was unusual in Burgundy, beginning with an exceptionally warm spring before cooler and wetter conditions arrived through July and early August.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep, concentrated ruby red, now beginning to show subtle garnet development with bottle age.

Nose: Intense blackberry and cassis lead into liquorice, rose petal and pepper, with layers of dark spice, earth and subtle oak emerging as the wine opens.

Palate: Full-bodied, dense and powerful, with concentrated black fruit wrapped around substantial, finely structured tannins. Blackberry, cassis and dark cherry are joined by liquorice, pepper, mineral notes and hints of chocolate. Despite its scale, the wine maintains impressive precision and energy.

Finish: Exceptionally long and structured, with persistent black fruit, pepper, dark chocolate, spice and mineral tones carried by firm, penetrating tannins.
