Clos Apalta 2018

Clos Apalta is the flagship wine of the Bournet-Lapostolle family, produced from a remarkable vineyard in Chile’s Apalta Valley within Colchagua. The 2018 Clos Apalta is 64% Carménère, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Merlot. The estate describes 2018 as one of Chile's great cool vintages of the 21st century.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep, inky purple-red with dark blue and violet tones.

Nose: Intense and layered, opening with blackberry, blackcurrant, plum and ripe red fruit alongside cedar, clove and pepper. With air, more savoury notes of tobacco, dried herbs, graphite and subtle smoke emerge.

Palate: Rich and full-bodied yet remarkably polished, with concentrated dark fruit carried by fine, velvety tannins. Fresh acidity keeps the wine balanced, while notes of spice, tobacco, herbs and mineral character add complexity.

Finish: Exceptionally long and refined, with lingering black fruit, pepper, cedar, tobacco and fine-grained tannins.
