Chateau D'yquem 2019

Château d’Yquem stands alone in Bordeaux. In the 1855 Classification of Sauternes and Barsac, it was awarded the unique rank of Premier Cru Supérieur, a classification created for Yquem alone. The estate’s history stretches back more than four centuries, with its reputation built on an exceptionally demanding approach to botrytized fruit, minute vineyard selections and extremely low yields. The 2019 is composed of 55% Sémillon and 45% Sauvignon Blanc, representing the highest proportion of Sauvignon Blanc in a modern vintage of Yquem.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Brilliant pale gold with youthful straw-yellow highlights, destined to deepen toward amber and caramel tones with extended bottle age.

Nose: Intensely aromatic and beautifully precise, with honeysuckle, orange blossom and white flowers layered over ripe peach, apricot and citrus. Saffron, honey, lemon verbena and subtle exotic fruit add further complexity.

Palate: Rich and creamy without feeling heavy, balancing concentrated peach, apricot, citrus and honey with a vibrant line of acidity. Notes of lemongrass, orange zest, caramel and delicate spice unfold across the palate, with the unusually high Sauvignon Blanc component bringing impressive energy and definition.

Finish: Exceptionally long and lifted, with lingering citrus peel, honey, saffron, stone fruit and subtle caramel carried by refreshing acidity.
