Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto 2017

Bruno Giacosa is regarded as one of the defining figures of traditional Piedmontese winemaking. Giacosa entered his family’s wine business at just 15 and built an extraordinary reputation through his ability to identify exceptional vineyard parcels throughout Barolo and Barbaresco. The Falletto vineyard lies in Serralunga d’Alba, an area renowned for producing some of Barolo’s most structured and long-lived expressions of Nebbiolo. The 2017 Barolo Falletto is 100% Nebbiolo from southwest-facing vines approximately 23 to 27 years old at the time of harvest.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Classic garnet red with ruby highlights, gradually developing greater brick and orange tones with age.

Nose: Expressive and complex, with ripe cherry, fresh plum and dark berries layered with violet and floral notes. Cedar, smoke, olive, spice and subtle bitter citrus emerge with air, adding a distinctly savoury dimension.

Palate: Full-bodied and structured, with concentrated cherry and plum fruit supported by fresh acidity and firm, finely textured tannins. Savoury spice, cedar, smoke and subtle mineral notes build through the palate, balancing the richness of the warm vintage.

Finish: Long and persistent, with lingering red and dark fruit, dried flowers, spice, smoke and a firm tannic backbone. Its combination of power and freshness promises considerable further development.
