Antinori Guado Al Tasso Matarocchio 2015

Tenuta Guado al Tasso, part of the historic Antinori family estates, lies in the prestigious Bolgheri DOC on Tuscany’s Upper Maremma coast. Approximately 320 hectares of vineyards sit within a natural plain surrounded by rolling hills known as the “Bolgheri Amphitheatre.” Its proximity to the Tyrrhenian Sea brings cooling coastal breezes that moderate summer heat, creating particularly favourable conditions for Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Matarocchio represents the estate’s ultimate expression of a single grape variety from a single vineyard parcel. The 2015 is 100% Cabernet Franc, making it a particularly distinctive and highly collectible expression of Bolgheri.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Very deep, intense ruby red with a concentrated core.

Nose: Complex and expressive, opening with ripe plum and dark fruit alongside distinctive fresh mint. Layers of peppered cocoa, roasted coffee, tobacco and subtle mineral character emerge with air.

Palate: Full, enveloping and concentrated, with dark fruit supported by silky yet vibrant tannins. Bitter chocolate, savoury tobacco and a saline mineral note provide contrast to the richness, while Cabernet Franc’s characteristic freshness keeps the wine precise and energetic.

Finish: Long and persistent, with lingering mint, bitter chocolate, dark fruit and savoury mineral tones carried by finely structured tannins.
