The winery was established by Michele Chiarlo in 1956 with inaugural vintages of Barbera and Moscato from Asti. The winery produced its first Barolo in 1958 and, in 1987, bought part of the prestigious Cerequio vineyard, which is informally considered to be one of Barolos cru sites. Michele Chiarlos portfolio is broadly divided into three collections: Crus (generally single-vineyard, icon wines), Classic, and the Palás range. Wines under the Crus, or Icon, range represent the best wines Chiarlo offers and are only made in top vintages in very limited quantities. Winemakers Notes: Intense ruby red.
