The first release in lowland distillery Lindores Abbeys Friar John Cor Congregation series - a collection of whiskies celebrating the official recognition of Lindores Abbey as the site of the first recorded distillation of Scotch whisky in 1494. Chapter 1 is a cask strength whisky that was matured in combination of bourbon, Monbazillac, STR and sherry casks, creating a complex, sweet character that compliments Lindores classic style. Nose: Mellow ripe banana, honeycomb, apricot and fresh pastry aroma fills the nose. A beautiful combination of fruity red apples, peaches and layers of winey touches. Palate: Rich fruity dates, apricots and spicy cinnamon with figs, prunes, blood orange, nutty almonds and waves of vanilla. Extremely silky texture. Very well balanced and complex.
