Brewer-Clifton Sta Rita Hills Pinot Noir

Founded by Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton in the mid-1990s, Brewer-Clifton has become one of the defining producers of Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The winery is dedicated exclusively to the cool-climate vineyards of this coastal Santa Barbara County appellation, where strong Pacific influences create ideal conditions for slow, balanced ripening.

Sta. Rita Hills is known for its rare east-west mountain orientation, which channels cool ocean winds and fog directly into the vineyards. This extended growing season allows Pinot Noir to develop layered aromatics, refined tannins, and bright natural acidity while maintaining freshness and precision.

Brewer-Clifton’s winemaking philosophy emphasizes transparency and restraint. Fruit is harvested by hand and handled gently throughout fermentation to preserve site character and texture. Minimal intervention, native fermentations, and carefully integrated oak aging allow the purity of the fruit and mineral-driven qualities of the vineyards to remain central.

The result is a Pinot Noir that balances concentration with finesse, offering both immediacy and aging potential.
