Andreas Bender Riesling Sekt Brut

Based in Leiwen on the Mosel, Andreas Bender farms roughly 20 hectares, primarily Riesling, across the region’s steep slate slopes. The winery emphasizes handwork, spontaneous fermentation and extended lees ageing to preserve the character of both Riesling and the Mosel’s distinctive soils.

The Sekt is made from 100% Riesling grown on red slate soils and farmed without herbicides or pesticides. Grapes are harvested early by hand and whole-bunch pressed, with the base wine fermented in stainless steel using native yeasts.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Pale lemon with a fine, persistent mousse.

Nose: Green apple, pear and lime with subtle yeast, pastry and citrus peel.

Palate: Crisp and dry, with green orchard fruit, sharp citrus and lively Riesling acidity balanced by a lightly creamy lees-derived texture.

Finish: Fresh and mineral, with lingering lime, candied orange and gentle savoury yeast notes.
