The Lakes Distillery The Whiskymaker's Reserve No. 5

Dhavall Gandhi has once again produced an outstanding single malt as part of The Lakes Whiskymakers Reserve series. The fifth release has been matured in a combination of Oloroso sherry, Pedro Ximénez sherry and red wine casks before being bottled up at 52% ABV. Aromas of maraschino cherries, old leather, spiced apple and dark chocolate give way to notes of pecan pie, baking spices, coffee and a touch of orange peel. A brilliant single malt that every whisky drinker should be trying. The Whiskymakers Reserve series recently achieved Worlds Best Single Malt at The World Whiskies Awards 2022. Nose : Cherry Bakewells, dried fruit, old oak furniture, and a touch of pecan. Palate : Coffee cake, cinnamon, rich red wine, a hint of tangy tropical fruit giving it some lift. Finish : Toasted brown sugar and cassia, plus mahogany warmth lasting.
